Tutoring to slow things down
You lay down in bed and try to reflect back on the day, and find that everything moved at a dizzying speed? Well, now imagine that for each of those dizzying events you are being graded on your performance. Many of you don't have to imagine this, as you know all about daily evaluation. Life can seem to get a little bit out of control sometimes.

The same is true for students. Their schedules can make CEOs get goose bumps, and they are constantly under the scrutiny of evaluators: teachers, coaches, college admissions officers, band leaders, and their peers.

How tutoring can help slow all this down. Having a tutor come in from the outside to help can be a critical step in making sure a busy schedule doesn't become an out of control schedule. The mind of a student under pressure can work forward, applying the trend of "getting busier" to the future, and predicting "completely hectic" is coming fast. Then, the student may live as if "completely hectic" has already arrived. A tutor can be the rational sounding board, and level-headed planner that the super busy student needs. Separating things that need to be done now from things that can wait, and then putting together a plan for tackling it all is something a tutor can help a student do. And doing that brings peace of mind, which is what the student needs in order to perform at her best.

Sometimes we all need a little help in slowing our world down. As adults, we find people who can help us get there: spouses, good friends, advisers, coaches, business partners, and others. Students need that too, and sometimes tutors are the logical way to go.
