Tutoring can achieve more than higher grades
Students can certainly raise their grades by getting tutoring support. There is no doubt that focused, one on one tutoring can help students catch up or move beyond the rest of the class. However, tutors are also in a position to help with so much more.

Take these comments from Janice, a high school parent in Walnut Creek, CA:
"I wanted to express to you how absolutely amazing Steven has been in working with my daughter in chemistry and trig. My daughter is having a difficult time in her life right now, and this is the first time she has ever struggled with any subject. Steven has taken the time to get to know her, and provide her with good life advice and tutoring. Everything that he has reviewed with her, she has improved on. We just wish he was her teacher in school! Her grades are improving in chemistry and trigonometry, and more importantly, she is getting a better understanding and he has been incredibly supportive to her."

Grades improving, yes. And the tutor is also providing mentoring support--allowing himself to be a sounding board for her ideas, questions and concerns. This is true teaching and true tutoring, and it is what we strive to do with all our students. We try to make a difference, one student at a time, and in cases like these, we see that it is working.
