The A+ Difference

We Make it Easy to Track Tutoring Progress

We realize that parents want to know that the investment they are making in tutoring support is working. That is why we send an email report to parents after each tutoring session.

Here is an example of a report for a fictional student, with a description of it below:

This is a A+ Home Tutors session recap for Jamie Student.

Session Information

Session Date: 05-03-2011
Duration: 01:15 hrs
Subject: Geometry
Attendance: Present
Instructor: Lydia Tutor

Session Summary: Jamie has a test in Geometry on Friday that we started preparing for. She selected items she thought she may have trouble with before I arrived and we spent our session going through those problems specifically. We discussed what the difficulty will be for this test: it is not the material really, but looking at a problem and knowing how to get from Point A to Point B, and using the appropriate equations. She seems to understand the material but only trips up right after reading through the problem (word problems, especially) and not knowing exactly what to do. I suggested Jamie work on memorizing the equations and practice a couple word problems before Friday to get used to identifying the path to take to solve the problem.

Looking Ahead: We will continue work in Geometry and start preparing for finals.

Additional Note: Jamie and I will not be meeting next week. The next session is scheduled for Tuesday, May 17th, at 3:30pm.

Next Session: 05-17-2011

The report provides two functions.

First it allows parents to verify the date and length of the session.

Second, it allows parents to see how the sessions are going, from the perspective of the tutor. The tutor writes a detailed description of the session. The tutor includes what happened in the session, what went well, what the student needs to work on. The tutor then talks about "what's next" so you get a sense for the plan moving forward. This is where the tutor would include any homework that the the student should complete. (Usually, tutors only give homework for Test Preparation or if extra work is requested by the parents or student.) The Additional Note allows the tutor to keep parents updated on anything else that is going on that was not included in the other categories - for instance a special observation about the student (very tired - needs more sleep) or an upcoming vacation.

These reports allow parents to stay current with what is happening with the tutoring, and when you take all the reports together, it provides a history of the tutoring that dates back to the first session. If at any point the parents or tutor notice that we are moving away from the goals for the tutoring, we work with the student and parent to get the sessions back on track quickly, so progress can continue to be made.

The Best Support
for Your Child

"I met with Brian from A+ Home Tutors while searching for the right tutor for my son who I knew
would benefit from some individual instruction that just wasn’t available in his large math class. Brian matched my son with Maria, and she has been wonderful. My son looks forward to working with her, and she has been flexible in dealing with our busy and frequently changing schedules. My son’s performance in math has improved and getting his homework done is no longer the ordeal that it once was. I highly recommend A+ Home Tutors to any parents looking for the best support for their child."

There’s No Comparison!

"We have been very happy working with Tiffany. She has an excellent rapport with my daughter
Mary and her grades in Algebra II are rising steadily. I also enjoy receiving the online recap after each session and I print those out so Mary can refer back to them if she feels the need. We’ve worked with other tutoring services in
the past and there’s just no comparison! Thank you very much for your professionalism and high quality of service. I’m so glad I called!"
