End of the Year Checklist
As the end of the year approaches, parents may be wondering what they should be doing to prepare for the summer and the following school year. Parents of young students, in grades K-5 may be especially curious about what students can do over the summer to get a leg up on the following school year. Also, wrapping up this year properly is an important thing to consider as well.

Here is a checklist for K-5 parents at the end of the school year:

  • Meet with your child's teacher to discuss your child's strengths and weaknesses.
  • Review your child's test scores to see if there are weak areas to improve upon.
  • Talk to your child about the highlights (and lowlights) of the current year, and how to make next year even better.
  • Suggest to your child some fun learning activities that you want him/her to try over the summer (camps, classes, tutoring sessions, etc.)
  • Look over your summer schedule and see when it would make sense to schedule learning activities.
  • Talk to your child about the importance of finishing the year strong.

Running through this checklist will help you and your child be prepared for summer, and when you are both prepared, it makes it easier to relax and enjoy the sun!
