Algebra Expertise

Our algebra tutors are experts in algebra, and have strong overall math backgrounds. Many of them majored in mathematics or engineering in college, or took many college level math courses. Many of our tutors have or are working on advanced degrees. At a minimum, our algebra tutors have taken upper level college math courses, and they all have at least a bachelor's degree. Teaching algebra to students takes skill, and all of our tutors have demonstrated the ability to teach and explain concepts effectively. Their experience includes: math and algebra tutoring experience, teaching experience, and college level Teaching Assistant experience (were they helped a professor deliver instruction and tutoring to college level students).

Overcoming Math Anxiety

Many students get anxious about math right around the time they start learning algebra. Students who do poorly in algebra often think they aren't "smart" enough do well in math. Our experience with students shows that anyone can learn algebra. Anyone. If a student has the one-on-one attention from a caring and skilled tutor, and there is good working chemistry between the student and the tutor, then amazing things can happen. We have seen students who dreaded math turn around and tell us it is their favorite subject. All this takes is a solid tutoring relationship, and building on small successes one at a time--each success puts a little more math confidence in the student.
